Meet The Band

Dave O'Dea

Dave was already an accomplished singer and musician when, quite by chance, he stepped inside an Irish pub and discovered the music of his heritage. He has never looked back.

Dave started to play traditional music; the stage was swapped for a busking pitch on the pavements at the start of a music journey which has taken him through countless legendary performances and full circle back to the main stage.

Dave has been described as a "musical genius" - one of those rare people who can pick up any instrument and play it. He comes to Odeaga as the "front man", with very strong vocals and a compelling guitar style which will captivate you throughout the performance.

Dave's main instruments are guitar, fiddle, keyboard and piano accordion, but if you hand any musical instrument to him, then beware...he will play it!

Cath Taylor

Cath has been playing musical instruments and singing all her life, since her pre-school experiments on the family piano. Her first musical public performance took place at the age of ten when she was summoned to the front of the class to play two tunes on the harmonica!

Although her original training was through the grades of classical piano, in her early twenties Cath discovered traditional music, and adapted her musical skills to suit the style. At this stage she realised that she knew many of the songs from hearing her father sing them in her childhood.

With Odeaga Cath plays piano accordion, but she is a talented singer and guitarist in her own right, she also plays piano, keyboards and dabbles with a variety of other musical instruments including flute and whistles.

Tony O'Dea

Tony has been in and fronted a number of successful Irish bands over the years. Many will know and recognise him as an excellent singer and guitarist.

In his adolescence Tony became interested in learning and developing the music of his Irish ancestors and decided to acquire a set of Uillean (Irish) pipes.

Tony has travelled the world, during which time he perfected his craft on the pipes and now brings these rare skills t the music of Odeaga.

Phil Mayer

Phil's introduction to the fiddle came at an early stage in his life, and for the best of reasons: whilst at school he figured out that learning to play the violin would allow him to dodge P.E and Games and that was the start of his musical growth!

As time passed,Phil capitalised on his classical skills and expanded these into playing the violin fiddle-style in traditional music.

His outstanding abilities have brought him wide acclaim, and Phil is one of the most respected and regarded fiddle players in the area.
